As I lay to call this day a day
My head carelessly wanders astray
The evasive sleep, that which I seek
Eludes me as my thoughts run deep.
My body’s exhaust, my mind’s fuel
The infinite depths of the bottomless pool
I close my eyes to drift on and out
But the eclectic colors endlessly sprout.
To fight or joyously ride the dream
Can’t turn back, too entangled in the scheme
To sleep as time and space softly fly
Or frolic through a different high.
The sun rises on the sleepless eyes
But it rises on a newly found why.
