Adventures of a Lucid Dreamer

I know it exists beyond what is clear

It is not for any man to fear

Apparent reality may seem bare

But abstract bliss is ever so near.

To trespass the gate, how could I dare?

But I long for the snowy woods out there,

The stormy night keeps me locked inside

So every fleeting detail I must spare.

As I venture into a world that has lied

I prepare for all that is bound to collide,

The terribly wet and barren street

Will reveal what seemed to have absolutely died.

My mind tells me to retreat,

But a distant spark keeps my heart a’beat.

What awaits I am destined to meet,

What awaits I am destined to meet.

The Truth

It is right and good you know so well

And yet you are always slow to tell

He tells you you must, there is no choice

Still you can’t escape the echoing voice

The mind and the heart shall disagree

Lest you forget the truth will set you free

uelThe infinite depths of the bottomless pool

I close my eyes to drift on and out

But the eclectic colors endlessly sprout.

To fight or joyously ride the dream

Can’t turn back, too entangled in the scheme

To sleep as time and space softly fly

Or frolic through a different high.

The sun rises on the sleepless eyes

But it rises on a newly found why.

Wandering With My Eyes Closed

As I lay to call this day a day

My head carelessly wanders astray

The evasive sleep, that which I seek

Eludes me as my thoughts run deep.

My body’s exhaust, my mind’s fuel

The infinite depths of the bottomless pool

I close my eyes to drift on and out

But the eclectic colors endlessly sprout.

To fight or joyously ride the dream

Can’t turn back, too entangled in the scheme

To sleep as time and space softly fly

Or frolic through a different high.

The sun rises on the sleepless eyes

But it rises on a newly found why.

Immovable

I push the cart

It does not budge

With all my might

Completely still

I pull and it releases

Butterfly Effect

A complex universe impossible to know,

Charts and graphs, math and science never truly show

The intricacies and beauties of our fluttering surroundings,

They hide a butterfly that is quite astounding.

A simple movement, a graceful flap

Can add infinitely or even subtract

From the seemingly stable and perfect planet,

Life or death rests on a lazy man’s hammock.

This butterfly effect may be only myth

But it is the intangible idea that is truly the pith,

If man could go back and alter his sins

Would his sneeze in Rome ignite chaos in Dublin?

We cry for the past and dream for correction

But the wonderful web is beyond our detection,

What is done is done, there is no turning back

Understand the power we possess not which we lack

To track and trace the tiniest toll

Can destroy a heart or resurrect a soul,

Sail the voyage of life’s wavy sea

And watch every ripple subtly break free.

At times there can exist without a how

A natural nudge for the narcissistic now,

Sense every minute movement, never turn an eye

Lest you be fooled by the brilliant butterfly.

Higher Ground

The residents flee to a higher ground,

They seek safety; they will survive this time around.

Nature’s brutality destroyed the people once,

Oh it cannot come to pass again.

All their belongings and tangible property

To be destroyed and now begins a path of poverty,

Yet they fight and climb to this higher ground

For there is always what to reach and light to be found

And with you my simple heart, my humble soul,

Blind and must advance to where life is whole,

Desecrated by kindness and evil of this tempting canyon

But it is time to rise above and reach divine heights

Delay then dash, distract then direct

Higher ground is near but not real yet,

A game of the mind to strive then trick

Understand the potential but know its limits,

Oh heart, Oh soul there is danger surrounding

Achieve higher ground, better view but grounded.

Greed

The heart of progress, the core of evil

Healthful ambition, poisonous greed

The choice to succumb to seducing power

Or embrace the pleasantly gracious deed

A dual faceted world for all to see

Similarities, but no harmony
